VA Spotlight with Zoe

24/12/2022

This post was contributed by Zoe Andall-Bowen.

Being a VA can be super exciting. There are so many different niches you can explore, applications you can use, and ways to differentiate yourself. I didn't want to offer admin services forever. I wanted to be in a space that kept me on my toes so I decided to become a Technical Virtual Assistant.

Who is a Tech VA?

A Tech VA is someone who takes care of your business software and the back end of your business. This can vary from your CRM, productivity apps, e-mail marketing, social media, website, and even platforms for course creators.

Through my growth in the virtual service provider industry, I’ve found my home with course creators, educators and coaches. That means I tend to manage e-mail marketing platforms, landing pages, websites, and learning management systems such as Thinkific and MemberVault.

If you are a Social Media VA, you may be more familiar with platforms such as Canva for content creation and with schedulers and ad trackers for social media.

If you are a productivity tech VA, you’ll be working on client management systems or productivity applications such as Asana or Honeybook.

My last example would be persons who are super niched and specialize in automation (linking platforms together), developing websites, or even just focusing on one particular platform. You can go in so many different directions.

Tech VA is a bit of a rarity in comparison to other categories of VAs. It’s quite exciting but this space isn’t for everyone.

Tech VA: To Be or Not To Be

To know if you’ll be a good fit for this space, ask yourself a few questions:

🌟 Do you have a good eye for detail?

🌟 Can you put a plan to the big picture a client presents to you?

🌟 Can you easily see linkages when you work on projects or notice how processes can be simplified?

🌟 Can you communicate creativity? Not just words but with images, graphics and charts?

🌟 Do you not easily get frustrated with tech? 😂

If this is you, your home in the Virtual Services world may be in tech!

Benefits of Being a Tech VA

Now let’s talk business. Being a Tech VA may sound like a lot of work, and sometimes it can be. But as we are such a rarity, we get to charge a premium for the services that we offer.

If you market yourself right, it could be super lucrative. Some of the ways we may operate are by retainer, on a project basis, or by offering day intensives with your clients.
